The Contact Procedure with the Second Reiki Degree
The Use of Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen in the Second Reiki Degree
«In the early 1920s, Mikao Usui founded the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai, an organization dedicated to the healing of mind and body. He himself was the first president of this organization.»

THE CONTACT PROCEDURE WITH THE SECOND REIKI DEGREE
The Contact Procedure with the Second Reiki Degree
«The contact procedure involves using the symbols in the following order: visualize HON SHA ZE SHO NEN and repeat it three times, then visualize SEI HEKI and repeat it three times, followed by visualizing CHOKU REI and repeating it three times, and finally, visualize the person being treated (the target) and repeat their name three times (or visualize a situation and repeat the title of the situation three times).
The contact procedure is used in the following cases:
When you want to establish an energetic connection with a person who is not physically present (spatial distance).
When you want to establish an energetic connection with your inner child (temporal distance).
When you want to establish an energetic connection with a situation that is currently happening or will happen.
When you want to establish an energetic connection with the essence of a physically present person during a Reiki treatment.
When you want to establish an energetic connection with your own essence during self-treatment with Reiki.
Once used in the contact procedure, the symbol HON SHA ZE SHO NEN is not used again during that treatment.
Activation of the Symbols of the Second Reiki Degree
Even during heart-centering, you can activate an energetic impulse by drawing and verbalizing CHOKU REI. Place one hand after the other on yourself or the person being treated, allowing the symbols to flow through your hands. If you want to establish a deeper connection with the essence of the recipient, start the contact procedure with HON SHA ZE SHO NEN and then work freely with the symbols. Otherwise, start directly with CHOKU REI or SEI HEKI. You can use CHOKU REI and SEI HEKI symbols freely and combine them according to the situation.
For example: If you are treating a person who has been overexposed to the sun, you can use a lot of SEI HEKI and a little CHOKU REI (the power symbol enhances the effect of SEI HEKI), as the intention is to balance the excessive heat in the skin cells. In this example, it is also advisable to mentally draw the symbols in gentle, cooling colors like blue, aquamarine, or light green.
It is also beneficial to activate the symbols with a state of mindfulness and mental presence. Try not to cling obsessively to expectations about the concrete effects of your treatments. Instead, approach the inner silence to feel the other person and the energy flowing through both of you; the heart also allows its voice to be heard as you quiet your worries, fears, the chain of thoughts generated by daily stress, and your personal importance.
The heart develops the ideal attitude for Reiki treatment: the intention to promote awareness and healing opens the trust that what happens is appropriate.
It must be emphasized that the possibilities offered by the use of the symbols of the Second Reiki Degree are countless. The techniques and suggestions below are intended to introduce Second Degree Reiki practitioners to a deeper feeling dimension and not to strictly guide their steps.
Try to capture the deep values of love and respect that underlie the Reiki method through the use of the symbols. The personal sensitivity applied to the proposed techniques can lead you to develop, at your own pace and in your own way, what is most suitable, creative, and effective for you. With joy, you can shape and develop your Reiki in an original and unique way.»
