HOW TO USE THE SECOND REIKI DEGREE SYMBOLS

 

 

«Every Reiki practitioner has likely heard the classic story during their first-degree seminar, which portrays Dr. Usui as a Christian lecturer at Doshisha University. This narrative is still widely spread today, despite the discoveries of one of my teachers, Frank Arjava Petter, and the breaking down of communication barriers through the internet. As early as 1991, another of my teachers, William Lee Rand, conducted initial research to find evidence of Usui’s presence in the archives of Japan's Doshisha University. However, no document confirms that a certain Mikao Usui was active there as a priest, monk, or student. He is also completely unknown at the University of Chicago.»

HOW TO USE THE SECOND REIKI DEGREE SYMBOLS

 

 

 

«After you, as a Second Degree Reiki practitioner, have memorized the sequence of strokes and can reproduce them harmoniously and satisfactorily on paper with a pen, you can use the Reiki symbols in various ways:

 

 

Drawing in the air with the dominant hand

 

Draw them in the air with your dominant hand (while the other hand rests on the heart center—the 4th chakra). Each symbol should be drawn—without overlapping the different stroke patterns—at a size of about 40-60 cm using the fingertips and tense hand tendons. For larger drawings, you can use the palm of your hand. This method is recommended for beginners in their first applications of the Second Degree but is mainly used for cleansing, protecting, and energizing spaces or "charging" certain objects.

 

 

Mentally drawing, stroke by stroke

 

Mentally draw them, stroke by stroke. This method utilizes imagination and stimulates psychic sensitivity (6th chakra or third eye). Each symbol is drawn step by step on the "inner screen" of closed eyes, as if a pen were at the bridge of the nose. This method is the most common practice, which can, with prolonged use, lead to direct visualization.

 

 

Instantly visualizing the whole symbols

 

Visualize them almost instantly in their entirety. Direct visualization is a talent of our psychic sensitivity that does not manifest equally in all people but can be developed through practice. To this end, it can be helpful to follow the symbols drawn on paper with the eyes for a few minutes, then close the eyes and hold the image as long as possible, or project the image onto a homogeneous surface with open eyes.

 

 

Intending (evoking the energy field of the symbols)

 

Intend them. Through continuous practice, intending can focus on the different vibrations of the symbols, which can then be understood energetically. It is as if each symbol has its own flavor, an energetic sound that we become familiar with, recognize, and can evoke. This method is achieved through long practice of intending the symbols. Intending is much more than mere will: Intending is that factor that tells you that you can still make it when the mind already tells you that you are defeated. Each of the four methods of application is effective in its own right.»
