REIKI DOES NOT REPLACE CONVENTIONAL MEDICINE
Respect and common sense
«In the practice of Reiki, it is always wise to foster and maintain mutual respect between conventional medicine and alternative medicine, along with the application of common sense.
As Reiki is a natural treatment methodology, it cannot and does not intend in any way to replace the crucial diagnostic and therapeutic roles of medicine, psychology, and psychiatry.
The Reiki Method is an extraordinary tool for energy rebalancing, which can sometimes be seen as an alternative healing method and fits within a holistic (total) conception of the human being.
From this perspective, Reiki is a valuable tool capable of effectively complementing and strengthening any official treatment or therapy. Those who begin a cycle of Reiki treatments are encouraged to continue strictly following all the instructions and prescriptions provided by their attending physician. Only the physician is responsible for making a diagnosis, deciding on official treatment, prescribing medications, or determining if their use should be discontinued.
When deemed useful, as a Reiki Practitioner, you should not hesitate to suggest that the recipient of the treatment explore any potential issues further through specialized medical consultations, of course, with great discretion and without creating unnecessary fears.
For example, if you feel that when touching the person’s liver, your hand tingles or experiences strong pain, do not alarm the person by telling them their liver is in bad condition; if you really feel it’s necessary, gently and generally suggest that they undergo some medical tests.
A climate of serene collaboration—free from any form of competition and with full respect for each other's expertise—between conventional medicine and alternative, or natural, medicine can only offer concrete benefits to the person receiving these services. Even though Reiki is known worldwide as a natural healing method, remember that in Italy only the medical profession can use terms like "therapy," "therapeutic process," and "healing."
Dario Canil and the Free Reiki® School of Padova/Venezia in italy, as well as the Centro di Luce Fabiano and the REIKI INFO website, remind us that a correct Reiki treatment approach does NOT involve medical or psychological diagnoses, does NOT involve the administration of drugs, creams, ointments, or any other medication, and does NOT require the person undergoing treatment to undress or be forced into anything.
Those receiving a Reiki session are informed that the Reiki method consists of a gentle laying on of hands or a treatment performed remotely, which never involves massage or contact with intimate parts. Reiki is a path of freedom and individualization marked by sobriety and respect for every human being.»
