SELF-TREATMENT
WITH THE FIRST REIKI DEGREE
Introduction: Self-Love and Self-Care
«Self-treatment is a profound act of love. Love towards myself. By treating myself, I give myself time and carve out a space of peace and tranquility where I try to feel myself through non-judgmental listening.
I choose to love myself in a healthy way and take concrete actions to support this decision. In doing so, I am not committing an act of arrogance, presumption, or excessive narcissism.
I simply try to break free from the rigid patterns of my personality, to move beyond judgment, to let go of my guilt and inadequacies, to transcend my human limitations… I move towards accepting who I am… I try to recognize the Divine Presence of "I Am" within me and with all the love I can muster, I promise to honor it.
According to the universal law of resonance (or love, or attraction), I can only express outside of myself what I have within. I can love others only if I first learn to love myself; I can respect others only if I first learn to respect myself.
By giving myself a Reiki treatment, I take care of myself, I foster a connection with myself, and I stimulate self-esteem, self-expression, and feelings of love and respect for myself.
Approaching others while first taking care of myself thus becomes an act of love and respect towards others, whether they are a patient, partner, friend, or simple interlocutor.
In addition to stimulating processes of self-awareness, self-treatment is also a valuable tool for prevention, for strengthening the immune system and the body in general, as well as for healing and accelerating the normal processes of self-healing.
I propose two simple methods for self-treatment:
Self-Treatment with 5 Fixed Positions: This method involves giving energy to all 7 major chakras.
Free Self-Treatment: In this method, hands can be placed freely on any part of the body in a sequence guided by intuition or the particular needs of the moment.
Self-Treatment with 5 Fixed Positions
In the self-treatment with 5 fixed positions, you start by centering at the heart. Then, comfortably lying on a chair or bed with cushions for added comfort, you move from the first to the fifth position, always moving one hand at a time.
Each position is held for at least one minute. The minimum duration is therefore 5 minutes, but a good self-treatment lasts about 15 minutes (even better if it lasts longer!).
You can treat yourself once or multiple times a day, at any time. With the Reiki method, the more you treat yourself, the more you benefit from its therapeutic properties. The more comfortable you are, the better, as this makes it easier to work with the energy. In bed, on a comfortable sofa, or in a chair, grab a few cushions, and you're ready to begin.

Free Reiki Self-Treatment
In free self-treatment, after centering at the heart, simply listen to where your body wants to be treated and follow your intuition!
Starting from heart balancing, you can place your hands freely on any part of the body in a sequence guided solely by intuition and the specific needs of the moment. From heart balancing, move your hands one at a time to where you feel called, stay as long as you feel necessary, then move them one at a time to the new positions that you feel. You can treat yourself once or multiple times a day, at any time. With Reiki, the more you treat yourself, the better! Besides benefiting from the treatment, you become more attuned to the energy.»
