To be or not to be?
Reiki and being present - finding your authenticity
TO BE OR NOT TO BE?
THAT'S THE QUESTION
Wherever you are, be there totally.

TO BE OR NOT TO BE: THAT'S THE QUESTION
When someone with a rigid defensive mechanism, protecting a non-authentic balance—an equilibrium born from the "as if" and leaning towards increasing crystallization rather than evolution—is initiated into Reiki, a conflict may arise. On one side, this inauthentic balance (of which the person is unaware) seeks to maintain itself, while on the other, Reiki acts as an incessant force pushing towards a more authentic balance. This force drives ethical and spiritual growth at an accelerated pace, leading to the manifestation of one's true essence.
The process of individuation pushes each person to bring forth their innate human nature, provided they are aware of it. The Ego plays a fundamental role in contributing to the realization of the totality of the psyche, or the Self. However, this is certainly a slow and difficult achievement.
OVERCOMING THE MEMORIES OF SOCIALIZATION
The limitless flow of information that has reached us from the environment since birth, as sensory perception, is interpreted (by the Ego) according to socially shared modes and forms an extensive inventory that allows us to navigate the world with rationality and coherence.
Our sense of identity is an integral part of this inventory, the particular description of the world that we have constructed. Yet, compared to totality, our description of the world, no matter how rationally comprehensive it may seem, is rather limited. Every perception of ours that is not tied to rationality warns us—or rather, makes us feel—that much of ourselves is still "outside," waiting to be discovered.
The human psyche, though inherently rigid, carries within it the potential to expand and realize its evolutionary possibilities. However, making this happen is far from easy. Often, the Ego is unable to recognize and accept messages that come from the deep recesses of our unconscious and the external world. Equally often, the Ego is unwilling to question itself and embrace as part of itself even what it finds most repugnant.
We are a totality. The contact with one's Self is a precious and sought-after goal because we intuitively know that in it, our totality would manifest. But reaching the total Self means walking long paths, where encounters with our shadow areas can frighten us to the point of making us give up.
Continuing to desire growth can truly feel like a frantic struggle against one's own fears. And in any case, growth requires significant self-work.
