The Meaning of the Symbols of the Second Reiki Degree
The Meaning of the Powerful Cosmic Keys of the Second Reiki Degree
«The increasingly noticeable surge of the soul seems to inevitably encompass both ordinary and non-ordinary levels of consciousness through countless experiences meant to be lived as active and conscious subjects. Mikao Usui, the father of the Reiki Method, called his work 'the art of inviting happiness,' 'the awakening of the spirit,' meaning that humanity had largely fallen into a kind of perceptual sleep, and awakening from this inertia was its happiness.»

THE MEANING OF THE
SECOND
REIKI DEGREE SYMBOLS
The Three Powerful Energetic Keys
of the Second Reiki Degree
«With the Second Reiki Degree, one works with three symbols and their corresponding names or mantras (sacred sounds). Thanks to these valuable tools, it is possible to act beyond space and time.
In doing so, dimensions are touched that are completely foreign to rational thinking, inner spaces that belong to feeling and invite one to expand their usual concepts of space and time. The three symbols of the Second Reiki Degree can be seen as three keys that open doors to other levels of existence for the practitioner; these 'keys' are energetically passed from teacher to student and are permanently anchored in the student. A comprehensive understanding of these symbols—through ongoing intuitive processes—can take a lifetime, as the silent knowledge from which they draw is unlimited.
The three symbols have practical meaning only for those who have received attunement to the Second Reiki Degree, as only then is full resonance with them possible, and they can be activated.
First Reiki-Symbol: CHOKU REI
The first symbol, CHOKU-REI, invokes power, strength, and energy with direction and purpose. Its function is to activate, amplify, and support the flow of energy. It is energy that takes on the direction of the practitioner’s intent.
CHOKU REI is used to support any Second Degree practice (other symbols, positive intentions, visualizations): It is a working force, it cleanses and protects. CHOKU REI originally meant 'by the Emperor's command,' in the sense of 'what must be done, be done.' It can also be understood as: 'The love energy of the universe now focuses on this point.
Second Reiki-Symbol: SEI HEKI
The second symbol, SEI-HEKI or SEI HEIKI, invokes harmony, balance, peace, calm, tension relief, purification, detoxification, and healing.
The functions of this emotional-mental key are to build bridges to the subconscious, to spread a vibration of harmony and healing that can restore balance, resolve old wounds and deep-seated conflicts, and release energetic blockages. SEI HEKI means 'the state of mind of the unshakable' and is sometimes understood as 'I have the key.
Third Reiki-Symbol: HON SHA ZE SHO NEN
The third symbol, HON-SHA-ZE-SHO-NEN, invokes unity, connection, origin, and the right direction. With HON SHA ZE SHO NEN, the practitioner's consciousness can more easily project into dimensions that surpass the limits of reason and the constraints of ordinary perception. It is the key that facilitates the connection with people, situations, and things with which one has always been connected, without being aware of it. The third symbol, HON SHA ZE SHO NEN, enables the practitioner to perform distant energy treatments.
You are in the unity of the whole, but in the illusion of separation, which your senses are fixed on, you have created space-time boundaries. The term "distance" thus refers to both physical space and chronological time. The compound term HON SHA ZE SHO NEN means many things and is commonly translated as "man and God are one."»
